Smiles Better, Smiles fresher – School Competition
Congratulations to Sussex Road School, Tonbridge for winning the Local Food Alliances’ schools competition ‘Smiles better, Smiles fresher’.
The Local Food Alliances’ strap line is ‘Miles better..miles Fresher’ stressing the importance and quality of local food. The theme for the competition is ‘Smiles better..Smiles fresher’ and the primary school children of Kent were asked to draw a picture around that theme.
Visitors to the LFA’s stand at the National Fruit Show held last week at the Detling Show ground voted for the winning picture.
Adrian Barlow, Chief Executive of English Apples and Pears Ltd accepted the prize on behalf of the school, he added ‘The importance of children understanding where and how food is produced, as well as healthy eating is widely recognised. This competition by the LFA will help improve childrens knowledge’

Caelia Butcher the LFA’s Marketing Executive presented the prize ‘We were overwhelmed at the responses from the schools and delighted for the chance to work with local children to broaden their understanding of food production within Kent.
