In short, it stands for "Really Simple Syndication" and is a very easy way for any user of the internet to view or listen to the subject matter they're personally interested in, right on their own computer, without having to browse countless web pages looking for the data. For example, when
http://localfoodalliance.co.uk adds new content, an RSS user is automatically notified of all of our site changes, without having to browse the thousands of pages within the site each day. |

HOW CAN I USE RSS? |
|

|
First, you need a News Reader, a very simple piece of software that automatically checks the sites and subjects you are interested in, and then lets you - read them and use them - at your convenience. There are a wide variety of News Readers, and some can even be accessed using your web browser. We prefer the individual software versions as they generally offer more features and flexibility, and most are available, at little, or no cost. Regardless of the method you choose, they in essence work just like your email program, but instead of junk mail and unwanted messages, you only see the information you want. |
